Producer Michael Turner: Monument, A New Documentary About Memory & Memorialization

Michael Turner is the creator of The Way We Talk (2016), an award-winning autobiographical documentary that has screened around the world and contributed toward a paradigm shift in how stuttering is preceived. His second feature, Monument, about Holocaust memory and inherited trauma is currently in production. Michael’s grandmother, a survivor of Auschwitz, was never able to talk about what happened to her during the Holocaust, but at the end of life, she returned to her hometown in Hungary to build a mysterious memorial for the town’s Jewish people, including her family. ​Monument documents Michael’s first visit to that memorial. The heavy stones that she laid in the town square of Sárvár– do they still talk?
