The Trouble Begins @ 5:30: John Pascal on Mark Twain and Thomas Nast

June 10, 2020 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Free

Thomas Nast’s vivid political cartoons took aim at corruption, racism and fools (though he was not without prejudice himself), and in a lighter moment created for all time, the image of Santa Claus we recognize today. John Pascal, a teacher at Seton Hall Preparatory School in New Jersey, a popular speaker who has inspired generations of his students with a love for Mark Twain, explores the little-known, deep friendship that Twain and Nast shared. Pascal’s presentation will provide new links he has discovered between Twain and Nast for a fuller understanding of their relationship.
Reception at 5 p.m.; the Trouble begins at 5:30 p.m.
The talks are presented at no charge; reservations are requested.
